The Reverend Pat Gotautas
Pat was born in Atlanta and raised in Spartanburg. She came to the Episcopal Church by way of the Presbyterian and Baptist Churches. She was confirmed at St. Christopher’s in Spartanburg then moved St. Mathew’s two years later where she stayed for almost 40 years. Pat did everything there a lay person could do other than be Sr. or Jr. Warden - even breaking the “gender barrier” by becoming the first female Lay Reader at St. Matthews. She answered the call to seek ordination as a Deacon in May of 2005 and was ordained May 21, 2011, meeting her goal of being a Deacon before turning 60 Aug. 3, 2011.
Pat has her Para-legal degree from Greenville Technical College and has worked in the Civil Division of the Clerk of Court’s Office since 1998. She is the mother of Eva Rector and Anna Fridy and the proud Grandmother of Isabella and Silas Rector.
Pat loves to read and spend time with her friends going out to eat and playing cards or dominoes. She came to Incarnation for her internship in March of 2010 and was assigned to serve as the Bishop’s Deacon here in July, 2011. She will tell anyone who asks that God has a sense of humor as He sent a Spartanburg High graduate and the Mother of 2 Dorman Cavaliers to serve in the land of the Gaffney Indians - and she is soooooo glad He did!
